If anything were possible...

In Jan 2023, the Blue Mountain ELH brought together organizations across our service region to ask the question: "if anything were possible, what would it take to ensure that every child, family and community has what they need to succeed in the first 1000 days of life?"

From this work, there were several strategies that were brought forward including:

  • Creating a network for direct service providers and organization to connect with the goal of better understanding of resource and improved referral processes
  • Improving rural access to health services by collaborating with EOCCO and local providers to find creative way to improve access and use of health care.
  • Expand child care for families through streamlining state systems and expanding programs like Baby Promise
  • Increase family stability by accessing unrestrictive funds to improve access to housing, employment and basic needs.

Navigator Connections Events

Do you work with families that are pregnant or raising a child in the first 1000 days of life? We would like to invite you to a Navigator Connection event to meet other service organization and better understand the resources they have to offer.

Knowing what resources are out there, and how to contact those resources can be confusing. To help ensure that direct service providers refer families to the right places, it is important that we know how to navigate the local systems.

This is an in-person (pending weather) event to help us build our professional contacts and resources.

Network Alignment Workgroup

One of the strategies identified was to create a smoother process for sharing information and referrals of clients. This included creating events where direct service providers could network and learn about programs. In addition, the workgroup has been looking at current systems that allow sharing and cross referral of clients.

Participation in this workgroup lets you give input to how these systems develop to support our local families and workforce.

Rural Health Access

Access to health service in a rural area can be complicated. Given how important care is during pregnancy and the first few years of development, it is important that we look at ways address the unique barriers of rural health care.

Since solutions to regional problems need collaboration across partners, we want to bring providers and organizations together to identify and address possible solutions. This work is complex and intricate, having the right people at the table can make the difference.
